Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage is a private-plan alternative to Original Medicare. Each plan can have its own network and approval rules, so ask your plan about TENS units.

Medicare.gov says Medicare Advantage, also known as Part C, offers an alternative to Original Medicare for your health and drug needs. You get benefits through a private health plan. Medicare.gov also says you may need to use doctors in the plan's network and get approval (prior authorization) for certain services before you get them. It adds that if you are in a Medicare Advantage Plan, your plan may have different rules. This site does not state how any plan covers TENS units. Ask your plan which supplier to use and whether it needs preauthorization. Read how to get a TENS unit covered by insurance.
